Last night, at the end of majeedhee magu, near MCSE & WaterGate, more than 20 people who were riding cycles, slipped and fell on the road. Luckily little harm was done. Do we really need the speed breakers.
If rain falls or the waves comes in, the roads become really slippery, so does the bumpers. Well if you are an experienced motor bike driver also you might slip on these. You need to learn to ski on the bike if you want to survive these.

An advice to all bikers. Never Push the Breaks [Specially Front Breaks] on a Speed Breaker. Always do it before you get on the breaker other wise don't. Cause it's dangerous.Drive Safe...

its is about the bloody smooth blocks used to pave the roads.and the paint they use on the road.once i read on haveeru that transpoort ministry says that it is paint specially made to be painted on roads....but male' municipality-the guys who actuall do the work- says it is ordinary paint (dhavaadhu).
and i think even if they use road paint it might not work on these pavement blocks.
2 days back i even slipped and was WALKING. :S the only option now is to be careful....this is good in one way...kinda solution to the speeding problem. :D
and let me tell u...its not the speed that caused me the damage...bust the sudden slide that broke my and my girlfriends knees...
isn't it time for the roads to be made with tar instead of cement bricks ?
and atleast replace the paint on breakers with something better ? I slipped even with shoes on those damn zebra-crosses...
The speed breakers does have another health effect. Long time usage will cause back problems for sure. Imagine I too have to run over 4+ speed breakers on one way to office and 11+ way back. I dont get government holidays so I'm bound to work 365days a year and imagine how many bumpers I have to run over. What about others like my friend, the supply manager of a local company who uses his mobike as his chair in his job to do work!
or, we need to change the cement blocks used to pave the roads.
the roads we have in Male' are not safe". try riding easily. If u come in a high speed and theres water or slippery action, use both brakes mostly pressuring the rear brakes. And lean in one side to balance with one leg to act as a stand. This is a smart way. Trust me. But sometimes no matter how much qualified you're if its been written for you to fall, i am sorry, i don't think theres anything we can say about that. he he. Live to ride, ride to live...
and i don't like speed breakers also in majeedhee magu.
